More than That

I completely forgot to post an entry last month when I opened the listing for Shane Mack (aka Shane McAnally) -- oops! He has one of the most amazing voices I've ever heard, and I strongly recommend checking out his music on his MySpace.

I just put in a couple of applications in the Characters: TV category. One of those is for a wishlister that I had applied to adopt a few times in the past, and the other one should be on my wishlist. Time to rectify that and put her on it! I don't know how much of a chance I have, but I have to at least attempt.

I was just approved for the fanlisting for Hawks! They are one of my favorite animals, and it makes me happy to be able to run this listing. I'm hoping to have it up and running within the next few days.

I spent a good chunk of the weekend working on my ToDo list, and redid the layout on 3 of my listings. They all look significantly better than they did, and I'm happy with the results.

(Nov 19: ETA - I just finished the listing for Hawks!)

Fixing things up

I'm working on converting this layout into a Wordpress theme. I finally learned how to do that, so now I'm tweaking the layout so it looks just right. After that, I have to make all the little changes needed to be able to use Enthusiast with Wordpress - I'm hoping that won't be too difficult!

If I can get all of that done easily, I do have another listing or two that I want to change over to run in WP. I'm pretty excited with learning how to do this!

f-r-e-e that spells free

I just opened the fanlisting for the "FreeCreditReport.com" commercials. Whether or not you would actually use the service, you have to admit that the commercials featuring that 3 man band are unbelievably catchy! Any time I hear one, I can't get it out of my head for a few hours. Haha!

I have also started working on my To-Do List. Slowly but surely, I'm going to be making improvements to my listings. I'm also working my way through my joined listings, to verify that all are still open, or to correct addresses on those that have moved. And, of course, while I'm going through those lists, I'm joining even more listings. Shame on me, though, I discovered that I had never listed one of my own fanlistings under joined! Oops. Once I'm done with checking all those links, I'll be working on doing the same for all the affiliates for my listings.

Speaking of affiliates -- I have a post at the TFL boards, looking for more affiliates. If you're interested, feel free to let me know here or there!

Today I opened the listing for Hugh Dillon! Yay!!! This is for Hugh as an actor - I already own the listing for one of his musical pursuits (HDRC). I wanted to get it up and running quickly, so there's only a few codes at the moment. As soon as I finish this update, though, I'm back to work on making more for the listing.

I got approved for the listing for the FreeCreditReport.com commercials. That listing should be up within the next week or two.

I also created a To-Do list for myself on the site. I wanted to keep track of the updates I need to do on the site in one place. I'm hoping it'll help keep me focused on what needs to be done.

At the moment, school is starting to get a little bit tougher. I still have a 4.0GPA, but it's going to take more of my time and focus now to keep that 4.0. I have ideas for another listing or two to apply for, but I'm glad I'm taking my time on applying, since I wouldn't be able to work on more than one or two listings at a time.

I finally finished the new layout for the Loyalty fanlisting. I'm still tweaking it in places, but overall I'm satisifed with it. I did use some of the original coding, since I liked the base layout, but I went in and attempted to make it my own. I'm still debating moving it to the other domain I host a few fl's on (lovehermadly.net) since I think it fits with the domain name, but I'm not positive.

I've also applied for another listing, and have one or two more I'm debating applying for. School's going well enough that I think I have the time to start building new ones again. But I'm going slowly, I don't want to get too many going and then have school suddenly demand all my time and leave me unable to get the listings up.

I'm still on vacation at the moment, so I have to wait until I'm back home before I can create a new layout. I have to say that I'm very happy Renata let me adopt it -- loyalty is one of the qualities I most strongly value in people.

It's been a while since I've made an update, so I thought I should take a few minutes to do so. Life has been incredibly insane the last few months, between looking for work and getting enrolled in school. I started classes yesterday, studying accounting which should help me out in the job hunt. Things in my life are finally starting to calm down enough that I've begun working on redoing some of the layouts that are way overdue in being updated.

State of the Union

I've been a little slow in getting the two listings up that I'm currently working on. Unfortunately, life has kept me beyond busy lately, and my time to work on these (or any) fanlistings has been a little scarce. I'm planning on sitting down this weekend and putting in as much time as it takes to get them both launched.

I don't believe I've mentioned it here, but the company I work for is going out of business. This was announced a few months ago, and I'm still here, helping to close the company down. I'll likely be in one of the last groups to be released from duty, since I deal in the finance/treasury end of things. We think that our final day here will be on March 28, but things could take longer (or quicker) to wind up, so there's no definite date yet.

What does this mean in regards to my fanlistings? It just means I've been extra busy with work (and with trying to get into a vocational rehabiliation program), and so my "free time" to work on listings has been limited. In addition to the two that I need to finish, I have several that are sorely in need of new layouts, that I've sadly had to postpone. When I'm finally released from my position here -- I might have a little extra time to work on the revamps. Then again, I might be too busy with rehab & looking for a new job that I don't get to spend as much time as I'd like on them. But, once I get a new job, and settle into a new schedule, things should even back out for me again, and I'll be able to put my full focus on my fanlistings. Wish me luck in the job hunt!

Edit: March 08, 2008 - Both fanlistings are completed and open!

Edit -- I was just also approved for Mark Hildreth under the Male Musicians category, in addition to Actors. Woot!

The listing is just about ready to go, and should be open within the next day or two. I'm doing two versions of the site - one for users with a higher resolution setting, and one for smaller resolutions. I came up with a wonderful layout that I love, but it really only works best with higher res settings, hence the need for 2 layouts. I just have a few m ore codes to make, and to import the members list, and then it shall be open and ready for more members! (ETA, it's up now! The lower res version is coming soon.)

They've actually been open since the beginning of the month, but I'll admit I was a little lax in getting this update done.

Part of the reason for the lateness of the update, I had two more fanlistings that I was working on. Crystal allowed me to adopt the Flora, Fauna, & Merryweather ("Sleeping Beauty") listing, and I was also approved to run the M&M's: Green listing. Both are now open and ready for members!

Last night, I received the approval to run the fanlisting for Tom Lenk. This was my biggest wishlister, so I'm incredibly excited. I wasn't expecting the approval, but I knew I'd regret it if I didn't at least apply. I'm incredibly glad I did now!! I'm going to be putting in quite a bit of time on this layout, making sure it's absolutely perfect.

I've recoded a few more of my older fanlistings. I'm still making my way through them, neatening up the code. I'm going to be going on vacation in 9 days, and while I'm out of town, my friend Emily and I are planning on working on the graphics to redesign the entire Brendan Fletcher site. Once we have the images done for the layout, I plan on attacking the code once I'm home. That will be the trickiest one for me, since the main part of the site is run off Wordpress, and I haven't done a layout for Wordpress before.

I just finished the listing for Straight-Jacket this morning. The layout itself is the same, however I switched from old bloated tables to much nicer divs. I had forgotten how messy the coding was for my older fls - I definitely have gotten better at coding since then! I might not be great (yet, still learning!), but it's a vast improvement over how I used to code.

I'm going to be going through all of my older listings as I can, recoding them, switching old tables over to divs, and just generally neatening any other excessive code I might have.

I was also approved for the listing for the song "Kiwi" by Maroon 5. I'm still working on codes for the site, but outside of that it's complete.

I'm pretty pleased with the way both of these listings turned out. And, since I finally got my PSP working again, I'm also working on more codes for the Willow & Andrew fanlisting. I also was able to complete the redesign of the fanlisting.

I just adopted the Willow & Andrew fanlisting from Cliodhna. She graciously allowed me to use her layout while I create a new one myself. This turned out to be a very good thing, as tonight when I booted up Paint Shop, it decided to die on me and I can't find my disc. I also applied for a couple of other listings, so I definitely need to get this fixed asap in case I get approvals. Yup. My timing is still ironic.

I went through all of my joined fanlistings over the weekend, making sure they were all still active. Thankfully, most of the dead links had only just moved, so I only had to update links and only delete one or two. Now it's time for me to start on my owned listings, going through the affiliates and members lists to check that the links are all still good. After this link-check, I might try to set myself up on a schedule, checking a different listing each weekend, rotating through the list on a continual basis. It's a good plan - we'll see if I can stick to it.
